  1. This guy genuinely doesnt have a clue what hes talking about. The premier league rules are about setting up a breakaway league in england, nothing to do with european competitions

  2. ESL motto: When everyone's a Champion – nobody's a Champion.

I like the idea. The EPL has distorted everything just through Middle East money, not through superior work from British players (who are still inferior than Spanish/German/Italian players) or British managers (which EPL clubs still have British leadership?). How can traditional European powerhouses like PSV, Feyernoord and Sporting Lisbon suddenly be less of an allure than Nottingham Forest’s money?

Lets face it. If there is great wealth for owners of PL Clubs, they will leave the PL.

The problem with Football in Europe is UEFA. It's a cartel. It tries to block any new kids on the block (Man City, PSG) from breaking into the Cartel as does the PL in our country. The problem in the Football in the world is FIFA. Bothe organisations are monopolies which should not be allowed, Cartels, which should not be allowed and corrupt which follows on from the first two. This proposal may not be the right way forward (certainly not for the fans, I don't want to watch Man City playing Barcelona in Delhi!!). However, this may generate change, which certainly will be good (but not for the "Historic" teams). Good luck to Burnley when they get back to the PL next season. However, you cam be certain the PL will do everything to block them challenging the "Elite". Watch out Newcastle and Chelsea they are out to get you.

  8. 3 teams currently skint looking for a way to make money 😵‍💫

The level of delusion in UK regarding the Premier League, and how strong it is, and how everyone is jealous, is absolutely insane.

  10. I would watch an EU superleague with teams like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, two or three top Italian teams. A couple from Portugal and France. Why not. If they can figure out some way of relegation and promotion.

  12. Why does my man take so long to explain something

  13. Real Madrid is running champions league currently

Why does this reporter need to take an activist stance on the ESL? Just report the news, don't editorialise

  15. Lee Davies dijo:

If this did happen i will never watch football again

I am big fan of Super League

  17. It’s the prem league fans fault now watch from afar as they have their own competition while you wish you were in it bloody clowns

  18. Sky has its own agenda regarding the PL, the right to broadcast games, etc..
If a European league is started, I doubt sky would win bids to broadcast most games..
    Hence the opposition..

Premier league is the best version of football in the world.

I love it hard. Proper hard though 😤

All pl teams have been sold to owners.

They say a lot about fans are everything etc… all that is lost when you sold the team, fans lose their vote/say when they sold their team to someone, they are not involved anymore.

In laliga for example presidents (voted by the fans) CANNOT invest in their teams, they can only spend what the team generates, compared to premiere league teams where you have Leicester city owner writing off 200 mill of Leicester's debt, or chelsea spending 200 mill on the winter market window from the owner's pocket… that's not possible in laliga because teams are teams and not businesses.

This eventually and naturally was going to create a mismatch.

I know some people will say barcelona have debt and they did this and that, it is not the same because barca sold property to generate extra money is not like an owner write off their debt.

When a team is sold fans lose their say about the team, in real madrid for example fans have meetings where they discuss finance about the club etc… and vote on what to do next, or they vote for a new president etc … when they sell their team fans basically lose their vote, they are not involved anymore, the team is someone's business now making money from the fans is no longer and organisation for the fans

Also I love how PL fans used to say is not moral to create a super league because football is for the fans etc… but they are ok if pl becomes the super league

Newton sky sports an advert for that breakaway league the Premier league and a bunch of American franchises.

  22. Reichart explained the new format and tenets of the plan to El Pais in an interview. The changes and objectives can be divided into 10 key areas.

1- Competitions based on sporting merit

The new format would contain four divisions consisting of 60-80 teams, with open qualification and no fixed positions. In many senses an extra competition on top of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League currently in place.

2- National competitions as a base

Domestic competitions would continue to form the base of football, although it does mention that as well as injections of cash into domestic leagues, they should ‘confront the necessary criticism’ in order to strengthen.

3- Improving competitiveness through sustainable resources

There would be more transparency and a greater distribution of finances, as well as rigorous financial controls in order to improve competitiveness. Teams in the Superleague would be guaranteed a minimum of 14 European games.

4- Player health as a central component

Amid the burgeoning number of games, The Superleague would not increase the number of games players are asked to play currently. Although this directly contradicts the previous point regarding 14 games, even if those who go furthest in competitions would not be playing more. Currently to win the Champions League from the group stage requires 13 games.

5- Competitions governed by clubs, more sustainable and transparent financial rules

More transparent rules, with competitions governed by the clubs, as happens in many leagues. Clubs would only be able to spend what they are able to generate, without cash injections from third parties that ‘distort’ the competition.

6- The best football competition in the world

The objective is to create the most entertaining sporting event in the world. Attracting younger generations is key and the doing so requires exciting games between the game’s top players from the start of the season until the end.

    7- Improving the fan experience

More help for fans to attend away games, and an open dialogue with independent groups in order to facilitate changes to the game.

8- Developing and financing women’s football

Increased investment in women’s football, focusing on the development of both infrastructure and the professional game. Women’s football would also be placed in the spotlight alongside the men’s game.

    9- More solidarity contributions

More money for clubs that are not competing and social causes in The Superleague, and more transparency over the funding. A minimum of €400m per annum, which is allegedly double the current amount.

10- Respect for the values and rules of the European Union

The protagonists of European football should act in accordance with the rules, values and jurisdiction of the European Union and its law. It is not clear whether this would apply to clubs not in the European Union.

La Liga President Javier Tebas responded to this presentation of sorts with a tweet comparing The Superleague to the Wolf in Little Red Riding Hood, attempting to trick clubs into being eaten.

Without details and percentages of exactly how these plans are to be carried out, it is impossible to say whether The Superleague has put forward a number of superficial phrases or an actual plan.

For many fans, these concepts are important and sound attractive, but no doubt UEFA would say they do much of, if not all, of these already. Two of the points are already in contradiction, as highlighted earlier, a sign that far more detail is needed before clubs or fans should pass judgement on it.

    We are the super league

  24. Lol. Once you start financing your league with your own money and avoid dirty money from Qatar and Emirates, then you can start talking about others being a “Cartel”

  25. P N dijo:

Every association in Europe should breakaway and found a Super League Pyramid structure – let English clubs play alone in the Champions League – good riddance.

  26. Well if CheatCity get relegated they can play in the Super League.

No super league will compare the the champions league either
