Spending big on money on big names do not seems to click at Old Trafford. Ralf Rangnick was the most talked about manager before joining Man United early this year. The big investment is now producing diminishing returns. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to go and so was others before him. Now there so much talk again about new managers in the likes of Erik ten Hag or Mauricio Pochettino or who else may also be of interest at Theatre of Dreams. Those big name appointments may only serve commercial interests and reputation of the Club, but I don't think they will start winning for the Man United. Players don't lack winning abilities. In fact, they have more, including the sheer ego to win. Why aren't the players winning. Morale decay. There is so much concentration, including aggressive training to meet the training standards, that the managers forget to rebuild the declining morale of the players. Best teams do not win by aggression, rather they win by strategy and high morale values. A best manager, I think, should not be the person who has flying colours against his name on coaching history, but simply put, a person who has the vision and intelligence on reading of the game and to anticipate any attacking threats from the opposition team, and coming with strategy to win.
Take Xavier Hernández Creus (Xavi) at Barcelona for instance. Being one of the greatest midfielders renowned for his passing, vision, ball retention, and positioning abilities. He took the languishing Barcelona upon himself as manager, and the results on the pitch have dramatically improved, and once again they have a team to be proud of at Camp Nou.
Michael Carrick is one of those managers overlooked at Old Trafford. Carrick is not a great manager with great coaching history. However, he has worked under the leadership of both big coaches such as Jose Mourinho and and Ole Solskjaer. In those times he learnt both men's greatest strengths and worst weaknesses in the management of the team. When he took Man United at the exit of Solskjaer, Carrick did not lose a single match at Champions League and Premier League. Even though it was only two matches, a lot of good vibes and morale boosting can undeniably observed from him. Simply put, himself being a midfielder, his intelligence and composure on reading of the game helped him to anticipate any attacking threats from the opposition team, in terms of covering space and making interceptions. He embarked on ball distribution, vision, creativity, playmaking skills, crossing ability, and range of passing, to dictate the tempo of the game, as well as initiate team attacks and yes, win. Management could have given him more match times.

And top of that when one of his players is often scoring against his own team. SHAMEFUL AND DISGRACEFUL. There is no doubt that the team will not be among the top four.
